Native from Rio de Janeiro, Andrade started to study classical piano classes at age six. At fifteen, she had her first professional gig as a singer, then started to sing at night clubs. In 1965, she had success with the show Gemini V. Soon after she made a successful tour in Argentina, and settled in Mexico for five years, becoming one of the most popular vocalists of the country. Back to Brazil in the 70's, she made albums that mixed samba with avant-garde music. Finally in 1979, she opted for a synthesis of samba-jazz style. |
